Frey Building Contractors is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Architectural Draftsperson. As Architectural Draftsperson you will have the opportunity to design exciting ICI, Agricultural and Residential projects of various sizes, complexity and value. As Architectural Draftsperson you will be responsible for producing high quality permit application and working drawings. The key responsibilities of the Architectural Draftsperson with Frey are:
Identify, develop and maintain Program requirements
Identify, develop and maintain all Project constraints i.e. Zoning, existing conditions, OBC restrictions
Prepare preliminary building layouts
Be involved to advise the project team on issues of constructability
Coordination and overall integration of technical activities (i.e. OBC analysis, drawings and specifications)
Material/product research and selection
Communication and coordination with Clients, Consultants, and Authorities having jurisdiction
Preparation of Architectural working drawings (either independently or as part of a larger team)
Attend site meetings, prepare site reviews and reports, take minutes
Measuring existing buildings
Shop drawings review and circulation
Coordination and/or preparation of as-built documentation and project close-out
Develop and maintain working relationships with Clients, and Consultants
Support and provide our Project Management Team with high quality conceptual designs, schematics, drawings revisions, presentation drawings, permit drawings and working drawings in a timely manner
Checking and co-ordinating the working drawings and specifications of all architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical consultants to ensure compliance with the project requirements and deliverables
Provide a quality control check on execution of drawings during the construction phase
Provide prompt service in the event of questions, problems, or issues arising during construction phase
To qualify for this position, candidates must have:
10 or more years’ experience as an architectural draftsperson in the construction industry, with a wide variety of building types and preferably with a Design-Build Construction Company
Experience with ICI, agricltural and residential projects of varying sizes and complexity
Top-quality drafting skills, including advanced knowledge of CAD
Deep and detailed knowledge of construction design, materials, building systems, methods, and processes
Experience working with design teams and consultants
Advanced knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and conducting code analysis
Excellent organizational and time management skills, and be detail oriented
Good verbal and written communication
Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, 3D modelling, Photoshop, Microsoft Office and Excel
Knowledge of and experience with LEED and BIM would be considered an asset for applicants
BCIN, Part 3 and Legal
Construction Engineering Technology Diploma, or similar
